Every Moldovan can hoist state flag at home on Independence Day

On August 27, on the Independence Day, every citizen of Moldova can hoist the state flag at home, on the balcony, but it must not be spoiled and deformed, MP Stefan Uratu, former presidential adviser, told Info-Prim Neo. According to Uratu, Moldova’s symbols on ordinary days can be used only with the Parliament’s consent. The state flag on the buildings of the authorities, public institutions, parties, trade unions, education and cultural institutions must be present permanently. It can be hoisted temporarily only on bank holidays, local festivities and official ceremonies. The law on the state flag amended on June 16 this year bans raising the state flag on damaged buildings or buildings under repair, including on public holidays. Colonel Nicolae Macovei, the head of the Ministry of the Interior’s Public Order Division, stated for the Agency that six cases of vandalizing the state flag have been recorded so far.
