Every fifth is a severe one
Nearly every fifth infringement registered last year was a severe one. According to a press release of National Bureau of Statistics, in 2010 there have been 33,400 crimes, 30% less than the previous year, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Chisinau, Balti, Drochia, Basarabeasca and Stefan Voda have the highest crime rate, while Falesti has the lowest.
Unemployed persons committed about one third of all the infringements. Underage crimes account for 4%, compared to 2009’s 4.5%.
Yearly, women commit over 120 offenses, most of them related to thievery, drugs and fraud. Women commit crimes at an older age than men, nearly half of them being above 30 years of age.
The number of crimes with use of guns, explosives and grenades decreased to 33.
In 2010, 7815 people were jailed, 9.2% of them being women.
