A student of the State University of Moldova was injured on Vadul lui Voda Street from Chisinau by a ford Fiesta. The Inspector of Traffic Security, administrative supervision and public relations of the Chisinau Traffic Police, Ion Roscovan, declared for Info-Prim Neo that the investigation will reveal the guilty party, but the statistics from this Sunday states that 24 pedestrians have crossed the street in forbidden places. According to the Traffic Regulations, they will pay a fine of MDL 10 to MDL 20. According to the Traffic Rules, the pedestrians are indebted to cross the roadway only in places specially designed for this purpose, and have to pay attention to the traffic signs, stated Ion Roscovanu. Approximately 43% of the accidents that took place in Moldova over the 2005 year are pedestrian collisions. The statistics prove that every 7th pedestrian is traumatized by his own fault, and every 9th child is injured or killed because he crossed the street in an improper place. In the first 7 moths of this year, 611 traffic accidents took place, with a death toll of 39 persons and other 779 injured. 3836 pedestrians were issued a fine due to the fact that they crossed the street in the improper place.
