Every 6th microbus owner gave up transporting passengers on the routs of Chisinau because they register losses, declared for Info-Prim Neo the chairman of the Association of Private Transporters.
According to the quoted source the number of microbus drivers that renounce to their activity is increasing and the tendency will maintain further, all the more as the summer season is coming and the number of passenger will smaller. The drivers are constrained to go on a forced leave.
Mamaliga specified that the increase in price of the fuel affected all the routs in Chisinau and the route nr. 185 (Durlesti town – Calea Basarabiei street) does not work anymore.
The quoted source noted that the transporters found out they can not anymore pay the local tax for the transport services, fact that affects the municipal budget, namely the chapter of local taxes.
The specialized committees of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), according to Mamaliga could examine the next week the problem of raising the prices for transportation and also the Chisinau development strategy.
At present, 1800 microbuses, which pay about 16 million lei in the local budget, are working.
