Every 3rd man liable to serve in army suffers from different diseases
Over 30% of the young Moldovan man recruited for the army this spring suffer from different diseases. The data were presented at a news conference in Chisinau on Tuesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the chief doctor of the Defense Ministry, Ion Targon, out of 21,000 youths, 17,700 (83.3%) were deemed apt to serve.
The most frequently unveiled diseases are such infections as hepatitis (22% of the young men declared as not apt). 20% suffer from digestion-related diseases, as 10% from mental disorders, Ion Targon specifies.
He says the main causes for not recruiting certain young men are related to health problems, leaving for abroad, criminal antecedents and families.
According to deputy Minister of Defense, Igor Malai, 2,917 people were recruited in the army this spring (96.91% of the plan). For over 13,000 recruits the term was postponed.
