The General Public Amenities Division will gather together the evergreens used during the winter holidays for being recycled during one more week, until February 11, Vasile Efros, unit head at the Division, has told IPN.
The evergreen trees started to be collected in January. The residents of Chisinau are urged to separately store the trees near solid waste platforms. Employees of the General Public Amenities Division go daily to collect trees and take these for recycling to 24 Lunca Bâcului St, to the storehouse of the Green Areas Association. The business entities, organizations and institutions based in Chisinau are asked to independently transport the trees to the storehouse on Lunca Bâcului St.
From the beginning of January until present, there were collected over 1,800 evergreens, by 100 more than in the corresponding period last year.
“It is a responsible act towards the environment. At the platform on Lunca Bâcului St, the trees are turned into sawdust. The chopped vegetal waste will be used by the Green Areas Association as organic fertilizer,” stated Vasile Efros.
