Initially, the Moldovan Democratic Republic was declared a component part of the future federal Russia, but on January 24, 1918 the People’s Council unanimously voted to proclaim the independence of the Moldovan Democratic Republic. On March 27, 1918, there was adopted a decision on the union with Romania.
