The Chisinau City Hall on May 9 will stage a program of cultural-artistic events on the occasion of Europe Day and the Victory Day in the central park of the capital city. President Igor Dodon, the Democratic Party and the Shor Party also intend to organize events on May 9, IPN reports.
The local authorities of Chisinau invite the inhabitants and guests of the capital city to take part in performances of classical and light music and in a brass band recital. The program starts at midday with a concert by the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Opera House “Maria Bieșu”, managed by conductor Nicolae Dohotaru, people’s artist. This will feature soloists Mariana Bulicanu, Ion Timofti, Iurie Maimescu, Tatiana Vârlan, Ana Chernikova, Victoria Nikitchenko, Veaceslav Timofti and actor Nicolae Jelescu. Starting at 2pm, the band “Avante orchestra” will perform in the Public Garden “Stephan the Great and Holy” together with soloists Roxana, Serj Kuzencoff and Riku Vodă. A recreational program by the brass band of the Culture and Recreational Parks Division, intended for elderly people, will start at 4pm.
On his Facebook page, President Dodon wrote that Victory Day in 2019 is a special day as the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Moldova from fascist occupation is celebrated this year. At 9:30am on May 9, at the Triumphal Arch he will join in the marchers who will head for the Memorial Complex “Eternity”, carrying portraits of heroes in their hands. A festive concert will be given in the central square of Chisinau starting at 7pm. National stars Nelly Ciobanu, Olia Tira, Natalia Gordienco, the bands “DoReDos” and “SunStroke Project”, together with the presidential orchestra, will sing songs dating from the war period. Russian singer Valeria is the special guest of the event. The concert will end with a display of fireworks.
The Democratic Party invites to the Holiday of Peace and Prosperity for Moldova on May 9. There will be music and dances, soldier’s food, games and parades with surprises for the young and the old in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau.
The Shor Party said on May 9 it will mount a large-scale Victory March and a concert that will involve the Russian ensemble that sang the song “Victory Day” for the first time. The events start at 9am. Later, representatives and supporters of the party will go on a march from the intersection of the streets Ismail and Kogălniceanu to the Memorial Complex “Eternity”.
Also, the Political Bloc ACUM announced it will stage a demonstration in front of the Parliament Building starting at 10am on the occasion of Europe Day. After the event, representatives of the bloc will distribute informative materials about the European Union on the streets of Chisinau.
