EuTV violated Election Code, CEC
The Central Election Commission (CEC) at a meeting on April 5 decided that the TV channel EuTV broke the Election Code one day before and on the election day. The Commission was notified about a violation committed by the channel by representatives to the CEC of the Democratic Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, the Moldova Noastra Alliance and the Liberal Party, Info-Prim Neo reports.
They expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that EuTV rebroadcast the Media Expres program of April 3 that included electoral propaganda in favor of the Christian Democratic People’s Party on April 4 and April 5 in breach of the legislation.
Though representatives of the four parties demanded that the channel is penalized, by six votes to nine the CEC decided only to inform the Broadcasting Coordination Council as it is not empowered to impose sanctions.
The representatives of the mentioned parties to the CEC told Info-Prim that they are not satisfied with the decision and already filed an application to the Prosecutor’s Office, saying that foreigner Vladimir Socor also participated in the given program, but this is against the Election Code.
