Eurovision National Selection based on another principle
Moldova will implement another principle for selecting the country’s representative at Eurovision 2013 that will take place in Sweden’s Malmo. Eurovision Moldova director Vitalie Cojocaru has told Info-Prim Neo that the National Selection will be based on a parallel contest of singers and songs, i.e. there will be chosen the best singer who will sing the best song.
The condition for participating in the contest is that the authors of the songs will have to cede the right to sing to the National Selection finalist. The arrangement and text of the song will be modified deepening on the winning singer, but the melodic line will remain the same.
Moldova’s representative at Eurovision 2013 will be selected in three stages. The first stage will take place on January 12, when the jury will listen to the competing songs. On January 13, there will be heard the singers and the jury will select 24 finalists. Each of the 24 singers will choose one of the 60 songs selected by the jury. The same song cannot be sung by several singers. Every participant can choose only one song. The order of song selection will be decided by draw.
The third stage will consist of two semifinals that will take place on February 26 and 28. The national final will be held on March 2.
