The Moldovans have erroneous perceptions of the benefits and advantages of the European integration process and this is due to the lack of coherent and consistent communication policies with the people. The people must know all the stages covered by Moldova on the path to European integration and realize that the country’s Europeanization is the only development chance, said the head of the civic platform European Moldova Movement Lilia Snegureac.
In a news conference at IPN, Lilia Snegureac said the initiated reforms are for the people’s benefit, while the European course is the most efficient method of doing reforms. The people must understand that the country will be Europeanized by economic development, improvement of the living conditions, enhanced access to health services and education of a high quality. “Some in Moldova look at the East, while others at the Vest, but everyone wants the law to be obeyed, while those who break it to be punished,” she stated.
The head of the European Moldova Movement also said that society must be informed at every stage about the steps and obligations that the whole country assumes in the European integration process. An important role is played by the local public authorities, which must ensure efficient communication between the central state institutions and the local ones and between communities. The local authorities should promote projects that are implemented with the assistance of the European partners.
The European Moldova Movement launched an information campaign titled “Together for the European Moldova –European future for our children”. It is aimed at involving the entire population in the European integration process. Opinion leaders, ambassadors of EU countries in Moldova and political analysts will plainly explain the necessity of amending the legislation, combating corruption and other actions required in the process of coming closer to the EU.
