The European Writers’ Council inaugurated a branch in the Republic of Moldova on December 28. Thus, the writers from the country and abroad, including students who made their debut as writers, can join the Council, IPN reports.
Under the regulations, for joining the European Writers’ Council the author must have at least two books published. The organizers said that an exception is made for the authors from the Republic of Moldova and these could join the Council with only one book published.
The head of the Council’s branch Diana Zlatan-Ciugureanu said that now the Moldovan writers will be able to establish relations with the European authors. “We are supported by the family of European writers and have access to the European libraries. There is a system of reciprocal support, a whole promotion network,” stated poet Diana Zlatan-Ciugureanu.
Writer Iulian Filip said the branch of the European Writers’ Council represents a bridge to the European cultures. “The goal remains the same – to establish relations with different cultures and types of literature. We should offer this initiative a chance, especially because it wasn’t put forward by us. We are in a context where we always affiliate ourselves and tend to Europe and the spiritual matters should be given priority. Europe accepts us without ceilings and additional testing namely with cultural projects,” said Iulian Filip, who is the Union’s deputy head.
The branch of the European Writers’ Council in Chisinau has 23 members from Moldova and from Romania, Italy, and the Netherlands.
