Greco-Roman wrestlers Victor Ciobanu and Daniel Cataraga were eliminated in the first round at the European Wrestling Championships held in Rome. Ciobanu lost to Hungary’s Erik Torba, whereas Cataraga was beaten by Yunus Emre Basar of Turkey, IPN reports.
Artiom Deleanu, 55 kg weight class, is the only wrestler who scored a victory on the first day of the competition. He defeated Israel’s Maksym Vysotskyi, but lost to Georgia’s Nugzari Tsurtsumia in the quarterfinals.
Moldova’s Donior Islamov, Anatolie Popov and Mihail Bradu enter the competition today. At the competition in Rome, Moldova is represented by 20 wrestlers.
