European Union will support reformation of PGO

The European Union will support the reforms done at the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO), the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel said during a visit to the institution, where he had a meeting with Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the PGO.

Dirk Schuebel stressed that the Delegation of the European Union is ready to back the PGO’s efforts, but they should concertedly work out a series of measures and a clear strategy for carrying out the activities aimed at modernizing the institution.

Corneliu Gurin enumerated the top priorities in the reformation of the institution. “Though we are at the assessment stage, we will soon promote essential changes at institutional level, designed to achieve results in the people’s interests and to ensure the rule of law,” he said.

The officials agreed to maintain a constant dialogue on the measures that are to be implemented and the methods by which the European Union will support the implementation of the justice sector reform, especially the reformation of the PGO.
