European Union provides border police with equipment to enhance border control

The Border Police has received equipment from the European Union to improve efficiency and enhance security at the border. The equipment was provided under the project titled "Supporting Protection, Transit, Voluntary and Informed Return, and Reintegration of Eastern Partnership and Third-Country Citizens Affected by the Ukraine Conflict," implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

According to a press release from IOM, the new mobile equipment offers a flexible and efficient solution that can be quickly relocated and adapted to various working conditions, covering larger areas and surpassing the limitations of physical barriers. These advanced technologies will improve control at border crossing points and help detect illegal crossing attempts in unauthorized areas more quickly.

According to Mariana Lucreteanu, State Secretary at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, integrating the newly received equipment into existing systems will improve responses to challenges such as uncontrolled migration, human trafficking, and smuggling. Through modernizing surveillance infrastructure and increasing operational capacity, authorities will be able to respond more quickly and efficiently.

Ester Ruiz de Azua, Head of the IOM Mission in Moldova, stated, "IOM continues to assist national authorities in ensuring a seamless and effective border management process, focused on protection and based on human rights, in line with international standards".
