If the citizens of Moldova were asked to choose between the European Union and the Customs Union next Sunday, 41.6% would vote for the EU, while 42.5% for the Customs Union, shows an opinion poll conducted by the polling company Intellect Group. Over 15% of those surveyed didn’t answer this question, IPN reports.
If a referendum on Moldova’s entry into the European Union was held next Sunday, 46% of those questioned would vote for, while 33% - against. If a plebiscite on the entry into the Customs Union was held, 51% of those surveyed would vote for, while 29% – against. Some 21% of the respondents would vote for Moldova’s union with Romania, while 58% - against.
Asked about Moldova’s orientation, 11% of those polled said this should be pro-European, regardless of the relationship with Russia, while 17% said this should be pro-European, but with a good relationship with Russia. Also, 38% consider this should be equally pro-European and pro-Russian, 17% think this should be pro-Russian, but with a good relationship with Europe, while 12% believe the orientation should be pro-Russian, regardless of the relationship with the EU.
