A European Town will be opened in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau on May 10, on the occasion of Europe Day. Visitors will be able to take part in public debates together with European and local officials and to taste traditional dishes of the EU member states at gastronomical tents, to attend masterclasses on European dances and the European languages school, IPN reports.

The EU Delegation to Moldova announced that the official opening of the European Town will take place at 1pm. It will bring together about 36 projects financed by the EU and 19 embassies of EU member states working in Moldova. A press center will be set up in the central square of Chisinau, where the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola will give a press briefing.

Artistic groups from Moldova and EU member states will hold a concert. The Orchestra of the National Philharmonic will also give a performance. The European Town will close at 5pm.

On May 16, the European Town will also be staged in the square of the Soroca Fortress, where 13 embassies of the EU member states and 36 projects financed by the EU will come together. There will be set up the same activity areas and attraction points: gastronomical tents, European languages schools, public debates and dancing masterclasses.

On May 22-24, European films and video clips about the assistance provided by the EU to Moldova will be shown in the garden of the National Museum of History of Moldova. On May 30-31, the Buiucani Football Club will host a Football Tournament that will involve representatives of the EU embassies and of projects implemented with support from the EU.

The activities are organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova in cooperation with the Government of Moldova and the Chisinau City Hall.
