Representatives of the European Union member states in Chisinau will present the European culture, traditions and values at the European Town staged by the EU Delegation to Moldova in the central park “Stephan the Great” starting at 1pm on May 13. The visitors will be expected at the tents put up by the embassies of the EU member states and partner countries, where they will be informed about the projects implemented in Moldova with European financing, IPN reports.
In the invitation to the event in the form of a video message, the EU Ambassador to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola said one more year has passed and Europe Day is celebrated again. “I invite you, young and old, to celebrate together the culture, traditions and values on which the European Union is based and to discover more about the assistance offered by the European Union to the Republic of Moldova on Saturday, May 13, starting at 1pm,” said the ambassador.
In the evening, the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 will be broadcast live in the central park of Chisinau, starting at 9pm.
The European Town will also host the European Cultural Festival that will be launched at 1pm on May 14 and will last until May 19. In the period, there will be screened European pictures and staged a series of cultural events as well as a foreign languages school and activities for children. The festival will include a public debate involving EU high-level advisers to Moldova entitled “Palpable results of the EU – Republic of Moldova Association Agreement. A classical music concert, organized by the EU Delegation on the occasion of Europe Day, will be held on the last day of the festival.
