European telecommunication companies stock phone and electronic communications data only for 2 years

European telecommunication companies will stock phone and electronic communications data only for 2 years, in order to support the fight against the terrorism and criminality. New rules in this sense were approved on Tuesday, by ministers of Justice of the European Union, according to foreign reports. According to new regulations, the companies supplying phone and Internet services will keep the data for a period of 6 months - 2 years. Every member state will set, unilaterally, the period of stocking the information. The companies will register the origin source, the addressee, date and place where the calls took place. In order to protect the confidence of the calls, electronic messages, text messages or Internet connections, the latter ones will not be registered. EU ministers of justice put to companies of this area the deadline of 18 months to implement the new regulations, which were already approved by the European Parliament. According to reports, the decision is a reaction to bomb attacks in Madrid in 2004 and in London last year, and was adopted against the opposition of European telecommunication companies.
