Moldova will hold negotiations with the Council of Europe Development Bank for financing the construction of a penitentiary complex outside Chisinau. The project will be implemented by June 30, 2018, IPN reports.
The investments will total €44.5 million, €39 million of which will be provided in the form of a loan from the Council of Europe Development Bank. This banking institution will also provide a grant of €1 million. The loan will be repaid in 20 years, with a grace period of 5 years. The interest rate will be set for every tranche separately. The Government of Moldova will contribute €4.5 million to this project.
The penitentiary complex will have a capacity of almost 1,600 places. 1,200 detainees will be from the Chisinau penitentiary No. 13, while 400 from police stations.
