European Parliament President to visit Chisinau
The President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek accepted Premier Vlad Filat's invitation to visit Moldova made during a summit of heads of state and government in Brussels on September 15. The date of the visit is yet to be set, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Government's press service.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Moldovan Prime Minister conferred on the bilateral relations with the President of Romania Traian Basescu and discussed details of the October visit to Chisinau with his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban.
Vlad Filat also talked with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who reiterated that Germany will continue taking steps to contribute to the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.
The meeting with the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso centered on the liberalization of the visa regime and air transport and on the planned doubling of the export quota on Moldovan wines to the EU.
The summit was organized by the European People's Party, the largest and most influential center-right European political party with the largest group in the European Parliament.
