The largest pan-European political group, the European People’s Party, improved its position in the European Parliament following the latest election, according to preliminary results. The Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, believes this outcome will ensure firm political support for our country in the European Parliament in the coming years.
“Let me thank all the Moldovan citizens who mobilized exemplarily and contributed to this remarkable result. We are Europeans and in the fall we will confirm our common desire to be part of the great European family”, the minister wrote on Facebook.
According to preliminary results, the European People's Party (PPE) won the most seats in the European Parliament - 186, followed by the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) - 135, and the top three is completed by Renew Europe – 79.
The European Conservatives and Reformists (CRE) obtained 73 seats, the Identity and Democracy Group (ID) – 58 seats, the Greens/European Free Alliance (Verts/ALE) – 53 seats, unaffiliated MEPs – 45 seats, the Left (GUE/NGL)– 36 seats, and newly elected MEPs who do not belong to any political group of the Parliament ending their term – 55 seats.
