European officials wish Moldovan parties success in forming governing alliance

Prime Minister Vlad Filat on November 30 in the evening had a telephone conversation with the President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek. Jerzy Buzek wished the parties success in the negotiations on the formation of the ruling alliance. He reiterated that the EU will continue to assist Moldova in implementing democratic reforms and in the European integration process. He accepted the invitation to visit Moldova on December 10. Yesterday evening, Vlad Filat also talked with his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban over the phone. The two Premiers spoke about the accomplishments and prospects of the bilateral relations and conferred on the post-electoral situation in Moldova. The Hungarian Premier wished the parties success in negotiating the creation of the government coalition and stressed the importance of continuing the democratic reforms. Vlad Filat also had a telephone conversation with Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi. The two discussed the post-electoral situation in Moldova and the bilateral relations. The Moldovan Prime Minister said over 60% of the persons who took part in Sunday's elections voted for a non-Communist future. He stressed that the parties that represent the democratic voters should take this fact into account. “The European integration is a priority for us and we will continue to make effort to achieve this objective. Our duty is to ensure a democratic, European and prosperous future, as the Moldovan people want,” Vlad Filat said. The two Premiers exchanged opinions on the implementation of the agreements reached by Vlad Filat during his recent visit to Italy and pleaded for the development of the bilateral relations. Silvio Berluscon stated that the parliamentary parties should form a powerful post-electoral coalition that would continue the initiated democratic reforms, especially the efforts to become part of the EU.
