European Museum Night in Chisinau
The National Museum of Arts of Moldova invites today, May 15, to the events dedicated to the European Museum Night. It is an event organized since 2005 at the proposal of the Ministry of Culture of France, which is now celebrated in 47 countries. The sixth Museum Night will take place from 11.00 until 24.00, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the museum.
On this occasion, the National Museum of Arts of Moldova will stage a number of activities, including exhibitions, theater performances and classical music concerts, at the museum and in public places. Entrance to the museum is free of charge until midnight.
A contest-exhibition of children’s drawings themed “Families Painted in Different Colors” will be opened at 11.00. Afterward, actors of the puppet theater Licurici will present a performance in the exhibition hall No. 15. At 12.30, there will be opened the drawing marathon “Big Draw”. It will take place in the museum’s exhibition halls and the adjacent square. Between 14.00 and 17.00, students of the Chisinau high schools Gheorghe Asachi, Spiru Haret, and Eugen Doga and of the Straseni Boarding Schools will give a performance of music, dance and poetry. A performance by the dance group Under Break and Jazz Band JJ Jazz will start at 18.00. The band IOJ will give a concert starting at 20.00.
The events were organized in partnership with the Culture Division of the Chisinau City Hall, the French Alliance and a number of companies.
The International Museum Day has been celebrated all over the world since 1977. Each year, a theme is decided on by the Advisory Committee of the International Council of Museums. This year, it is "Museums for Social Harmony”. The event provides the opportunity for museum professionals to meet the public and alert them to the challenges that museums face if they are to be.
