European money shall reach municipal budget directly, says Chisinau mayor

By the direct cooperation between the EU institutions and the local authorities from Moldova it would be possible to unmonopolize the management of the European funds by the Moldovan Government and would insure the competition between the central and local administrations in carrying out projects in Moldova. The statement was made by Chisinau's mayor Dorin Chirtoaca at a news conference of mayors organized in Brussels by the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe on May 14-15, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the opinion of the Chisinau mayor, thus the projects may be run better and it would offer equal opportunities for those two types of administration in achieving their goals . The issue of urban mobility, of identifying common solutions for European cities in order to insure their own accessibility, rise of attractiveness, autonomy and capacities were also tackled at the conference. The European commissioner for Justice and Internal Affairs, Jacques Barrot, showed concern for the transport issue. The rapporteurs unveiled the solutions offered by the EU for municipalities, especially the possibilities of funding common projects out up by local authorities. The EU has earmarked 347 billion euros in this respect, as, for example Romania, benefits of 19.6 billion euros from this budget
