Europe came to Moldova on May 14 through the European Film Festival that was opened at Gaudeamus Movie Theater in Chisinau. The event was organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova on the occasion of Europe Days. Entrance to the 15 movies that will be shown until May 18 is free of charge, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the opening of the event, Minister of Culture Boris Focsa said the festival aims to familiarize Moldovan society with the traditions and particularities of the EU member states. “I’m glad that we are already at the second edition of the European Film Festival that has a considerable significance for the Moldovan cinematography in whose renaissance I believe,” he stated. “We hope that this festival will become a tradition. This year’s festival includes feature films and documentaries of different genres. They will be screened in their original languages and subtitled in Romanian. The festival starts with a Danish movie because Denmark is holding the presidency of the European Union,” said the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel. The sponsors of the event include the companies Sudzucker, Moldova Agroindbanck, Orange, and Flor Arr. The organizational partner is the Youth Parliament. The media coverage is ensured by Evropa Plus, Publika TV, Teleradio – Moldova, Ekonomicheskoe Obozrenie Logos-press, Jurnal TV, Info-Prim Neo, Infotag, Kommersant PLUS, Moldavskie Vedomosti, Komsomoliskaya Pravda v Moldove, Kishineovskii Obozrevateli, InfoMarket, Deca-Press, Moldpres, Timpul, Moldova Suverana, and Prost Radio.
