University professors and Doctors from Moldovan and Romanian universities on November 10 met at a conference to discuss the difficulties experienced on the path to the EU and the advantages of the European integration. The event also involved students of the Faculty of History of the State University of Moldova, where the conference took place, IPN reports.
Doru Tompea, rector of the Iasi University “Petre Andrei”, which is one of the organizers, said that this conference represents a scientific event where the students will hear professionals and experts in international relations who studied the European area and course. The conference forms part of a series of events dedicated to this subject, which are entitled “Pro-European Moldova”. They will also involve students because the young people are those who will bring the European integration process to an end.
Doru Tompea also said that the experts will lay emphasis on European values and virtues related to human rights. The integration into the EU brings benefits to Moldova, first of all economic, because the values that prevail in the EU are those of an authentic market economy. “The European Union centers on social values and cultural policies, namely the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the documents that enshrine the basic human rights and fundamental freedoms. It also focuses on the European cultural values as Europe is a multilingual and multicultural area where there is no place for discriminatory attitudes and behaviors,” stated Doru Tompea.
The series of conferences and debates “Pro-European Moldova” are organized by the Iasi University “Petre Andrei” in partnership with the European Forum for Public Diplomacy (Bucharest), the Faculty of European Studies of the University “Babes-Bolyai” (Cluj-Napoca), the Association for Intercultural Dialog and Historical Studies “Intermarium” (Constanta), the Romanian Association of Social History (Bucharest), the Institute for the Study of Ideologies, and the Social Development Center.
