European countries stand by Moldova in Ukrainian refugee crisis

The German Ministry for Foreign Affairs holds a conference to mobilize international support for Moldova for managing the large inflow of Ukrainian refugees, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reported, with reference to German sources.

Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița will attend the international donors’ conference for Ukrainian refugees, which will take place in Berlin on April 5. IPN reported that in the event, the Premier will tell about the efforts to manage the refugee crisis made at governmental level and by society. The participants will focus on the provision of Moldova with the necessary goods, given primarily the rises in energy prices, development and strengthening of the rule of law in Moldova, improvement of the efficiency of border troops and enhancement of the sustainability of the country’s economy.

Prior to the forum, the Moldovan prime minister will speak at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation about the efforts of the Moldovan authorities and society to manage the crisis situation. The event will start at 20:30 (Chisinau time) and will be broadcast live on the organization’s website www.kas.de.

The international press connected the Moldovan Premier’s visit to Berlin with the recent visit paid by the German Minister for Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock to Chisinau, where she announced the intensification of support for the Republic of Moldova. It is noted that the Germans already accepted two flights with Ukrainian refugees from the Republic of Moldova, while the governments in Vienna, Prague and Bratislava decided to offer assistance to Moldova to help it cope with the flow of refugees, with the decisions being recently announced in Chisinau by the heads of the given diplomatic services.
