European Commissioner Štefan Füle expected in Chisinau tomorrow
Commissioner Štefan Füle, responsible for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, will pay a visit to Moldova on 14-15 May 2010.
The Commissioner will meet with Acting President and Speaker of the Parliament Mihai Ghimpu, Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca, and the president of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu. Štefan Füle will also meet with Vladimir Voronin, the president of the Communists Party, as well as with representatives of civil society, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a press release from the EU Delegation to Moldova.
The main focus of his talks will be on the further enhancement of bilateral relations between the EU and Moldova."Moldova faces formidable challenges", said Štefan Füle prior to the visit. "These require decisive and determined action on reform. The European Union will stand by Moldova in these efforts. Our support will continue to be real and substantial", the Commissioner stressed.
Commissioner Füle will actively participate in the Europe Day celebrations in the Great National Assembly Square on 15 May and address the public during the official opening ceremony at 2 pm. He will also deliver a speech in the Parliament of Moldova on May 14 and will sign a Memorandum on the Comprehensive Institutional Capacity Strengthening Program with the Premier.
