European Commissioner: Moldova needs re-formation

The Republic of Moldova needs to go through a re-formation process that would be a clear signal that the Moldovan politicians have the wisdom and determination to take a step backward and to allow the young generation come ahead. It’s time to detach oneself from the past and to form a new elite team, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn  said in a meeting with Head of Parliament Andrian Candu, who paid an official visit to Brussels, IPN reports.

The European official stated it is very important for the new Government of Moldova to undertake to accelerate reforms and to clean up without limitations or preferences. The new Government must be part of the re-formation process so that it contributes to the future election of the head of state next March.

Johannes Hahn reiterated the EU’s support for Moldova, noting that the results that the European Union expects are important first of all for the country’s people.

“The Republic of Moldova does not want to be a country that generates insecurity in the region. By concrete facts we will show that our country deserves and is able to regain the lead in the Eastern Partnership,” stated Andrian Candu.

Also today, the Moldovan Speaker had a meeting with the leaders of the EU Delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, MEPs Andi Cristea and Michal Boni, which centered on the political situation in Moldova, implementation of reforms and the country’s European agenda.
