European commissioner for agriculture comes to Chisinau

European Commissioner for Agriculture Dacian Ciolos will pay a three-day visit to Moldova, at the invitation of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. On October 11, the official will have bilateral meetings with Iurie Leanca, Head of Parliament Igor Corman and Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Government, the same day the Premier and the European commissioner will give a joint news conference. On October 12, Dacian Ciolos, together with Iurie Leanca, will visit a winemaking company based in Puhoi village of Ialoveni district. Afterward, the two officials will meet with members of the Association of Table Grape Producers. The European commissioner will also have a meeting with members of the Cabinet. He will end his visit to Moldova on October 13.

At the end of last month, the European Commission, at the initiative of Dacian Ciolos, proposed that the Council and the European Parliament should fully open the EU market for Moldovan wines before the coming into force of the Association Agreement. A request was made to hasten the adoption of a relevant decision.
