European Commissioner Dacian Ciolos comes to Chisinau for high-level talks
Commissioner Dacian Ciolos, responsible for Agriculture and Rural Development, will pay a visit to Moldova on 3-6 June 2010 to discuss the trade relations in the field of agriculture and food processing. While in Moldova, the Commissioner will meet with high-ranking officials and representatives of civil society and will visit an agricultural farm outside Chisinau.
"The Republic of Moldova is a country with great agricultural tradition and potential. The European Union is already an important partner for the country's agriculture and food processing industry. Our trade relations in those areas and beyond have been growing and with mutual efforts they are set to keep on growing", said Dacian Ciolos prior to the visit.
"I will discuss with the Moldovan authorities how the Republic of Moldova and the European Union can continue to work together to make sure the Moldovan citizens, in particular those in rural areas or whose living depends on agriculture, can take full advantage of the gradual integration of their country's economy with the EU's internal market.”
