European Commission to provide €10m to Moldova for justice reform
Moldova will initiate negotiations for obtaining €10 million in financing from the European Commission for the Support to Justice Sector Reform Program, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the informative note to the Government Decision on the initiation of the negotiations, the aim of the program is to create an equitable justice system that will not tolerate corruption so as to ensure the country’s sustainable development. Another objective is to prepare the justice sector for the Budget Support Program that will be financed within the 2012 Moldova –EU National Plan of Action with a budget of €50 million.
The €10 million will be allocated over three years for four projects: support to the justice reform coordination body and implementation of the justice sector reform strategy (€2.8m); support to the pre-trial process (€2m); increasing court efficiency, responsibility and transparency (€3m), and support to the execution, probation and rehabilitation system (€2m).
