European Commission to offer EUR 10 mln for budgetary support of Moldova

European Commission decided to offer financial support of EUR 10 mln for budgetary support of the Republic of Moldova. Resources will be offered in the framework of the Alimentary Security Program 2006. The financing agreement of the aforementioned program will be signed in short-time by the prime-minister Vasile Tarlev and, Richard Weber, director of the Cooperation Department of the Council of Europe. According to a Governmental press release, Paolo Berizzi ad interim charge d’affairs of the European Commission to Moldova, wrote in a letter addressed to the prime-minister that within this project, Moldova will benefit from a financial support of EUR 9.2 mln. The rest of the sum is a technical credit with preferential conditions. The funds will be distributed to support such important areas as agriculture, social protection and improving the management of public finances. The project will contribute to implementing the provisions of the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (EGPRSP). As well the project is supporting the Moldova-EU Action Plan.
