European Commission report transmitted officially to Iurie Leanca

EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmström officially handed over the report on the implementation by Moldova of the Plan of Action on the Liberalization of the Visa Regime for Moldovans. She congratulated the Government of Moldova for this success, describing the moment as a historical one, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Government’s press service, the Premier welcomed the conclusions of the report, saying this final assessment shows that Moldova met all the conditions for having the visa regime liberalized. The two officials also discussed the next steps in this process. Immediately after the Vilnius Summit, the European Commission will recommend the European Parliament and the Council of the EU to take a decision as regards the abolition of visas for Moldovan travelers.

The Moldovan delegation confirmed Chisinau’s commitment to continue the reforms in justice and the internal affairs bodies and to fight corruption.

Cecilia Malmström was invited to pay a visit to Chisinau next year.
