European Business Association launched in Chisinau
Align the national economy and business legislation to the EU standards, and promote European values and best business management practices in the Moldovan entrepreneurial community − these are a few of the main goals announced by the European Business Association (EBA), which was launched on Friday, October 14, in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Silvia Radu, the president of the organization's board, said the EBA was formally registered a week ago and has 12 founding members, chiefly companies with foreign capital working in the Republic of Moldova, but also several national companies. Other 30 firms have announced their intention to join.
“At the end of November we plan to organize a business mission to the Netherlands. We seek to facilitate business contacts, attract foreign investment to Moldova, from both the East and the West”, said Silvia Radu.
“We are confident that Moldova's future is a European one and the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova, which I represent, will support the EBA in its work”, stated AmCham president John Maxemciuc.
Moldcell manager Chiril Gaburici said the EBA will be a good promoter of best business practices, of quality standards and advanced management, all these issues being vital to enhance the competitiveness of Moldovan companies.
The launch ceremony was attended by Prime-Minister Vlad Filat and Algirdas Semeta, the European Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union, visiting Moldova. They noted that the EBA could become a platform for dialog and communication, including in the context of the negotiations on the DCFTA with the EU.
The honorary president of the EBA is Ambassador Dirk Schubel, head of the EU Delegation in Moldova.
