European assistance to prevent cases of sexual exploitation of children

The institutional and legal framework for the prevention and combating of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse against children will be assessed as part of a project implemented by the Council of Europe, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the project aims to provide assistance to the public authorities in strengthening the efforts to prevent and combat cases of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse against children by aligning these to the good practices of the Council of Europe and other international organizations working in the field. Training sessions will be staged for judges and lawyers. There will be organized campaigns to raise awareness and educate the parents and children.

The Republic of  Moldova ratified the Lanzarote Convention in 2012. This is the most ambitious and comprehensive international legal instrument on the protection of children against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse.
