European ambassadors want more informal meetings
Ambassadors of EU countries are in favor of continuing informal meetings with the leaders of the Moldovan Parliament, Info-Prim Neo learned from a press release of the Legislative.
According to the release, after the meeting of Speaker Marian Lupu and First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc with the heads of EU states’ diplomatic missions in Chisinau, the latter appreciated the idea and opted to continue such meetings. They say this was a useful practice to debate topical subjects with the Parliament leaders and to learn first-hand information.
The meeting took place on Tuesday evening, July 10. The participants talked about matters related to the Parliament’s works in the spring-summer session 2012, about measures to improve the legislative act, about the social-political situation after the election of the President, the justice reform, the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict and the OSCE PA Resolution on Moldova.
Other discusses issues concerned the press’ freedom of expression (after the suspension of the NIT broadcasting license by the Broadcast Coordinating Council, included in the OSCE PA Resolution) and the progress of the democratic process in Moldova.
The press release didn’t disclose the location of the informal meeting.
