The “European Action” Movement (EAM) calls on its members and supporters to actively participate in the second round of the local elections on June 17 in order to support Dorin Chirtoaca for Chisinau Mayor, a press release of the party says. At the same time, EAM supports all the non-communist candidates who are running for mayor in the second round voting in the communes, towns and cities of Moldova. In addition, the statement says that despite the fact that the party was not admitted to participate in these elections, several members of the EAM became mayors and councillors in the local administrations by running as independent candidates. As a consequence, in the most of the country’s settlements, the share of the ruling party in the bodies of the local power has significantly diminished.
