European Action Movement expands ranks

Thirteen branches of the People's Action Movement (MAP) Sunday announced their decision to join the European Action Movement (MAE), Info-Prim Neo reports. “We decided to join a party that is represented in the Parliament and make efforts to democratize the society, fight communism and offer the people an alternative in the present political context,” MAP president Vasile Chitoroaga told a news conference. Vasile Chitoroaga said they decided to join MAE because they want to be in Opposition as it is very dangerous for the Opposition to be represented by the Communists Party only. The People's Action Movement founded by former presidential adviser Sergiu Mocanu has not been yet officially registered. According to the 13 branches of the MAP, this is one of the major reasons why the People's Action Movement stops working as a political organization. Vasile Chitoroaga said that a party does not mean a stamp, but people and that about 200 persons will now join the MAE. Not long before the news conference, Sergiu Mocanu said he regrets the actions taken by Chitoroaga, stressing his organization will be ultimately registered with the Ministry of Justice.
