The European Action Group for Moldova, which had a meeting in Brussels on February 10, expressed its support for signing the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU by this August and for finishing the process of liberalizing the visa regime in the nearest future, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova, the European officials delivered messages of continuous support for Moldova’s European course and for the reformation process, assuring of the political and financial assistance that will be offered to the country in this respect.
The event, co-chaired by Romania and France, was held before the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council. It brought together 20 foreign ministers of the EU member states, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Štefan Füle and European External Action Service Deputy Secretary General Helga Schmid.
Launched in 2010, the Europa Action Group for Moldova is an informal ministerial platform for exchanging opinions and ideas on the development of the relations between the EU and Moldova. It involves foreign ministers of the EU member states.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman proposed holding the next meeting of the group in Chisinau in September.
