Europe Day that is celebrated each year on May 9 this year will be marked from home. The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova invites the people to watch or listen to educational, cultural and interactive events organized on the occasion of Europe Day on TV, radio and online, IPN reports.

In a press release, the EU Delegation says the agenda of events starts on May 5, on TV and radio, and will be followed by online events aimed at informing about the cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova.

On May 9, when the EU marks the 70th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, the Moldovan National Youth Orchestra and La La Play Voices will give a concert that will involve 200 musicians from Moldova and the EU. The traditional European Film and Culture Festival will take place on TV and online during May 10 – 17. As part of the festival, the public will have access to unique feature films and documentaries and to concerts held by renowned signers from all over Europe.

According to EU Ambassador to Moldova Peter Michalko, Europe Day celebrates the values based on which the European Union was formed and based on which the Member States have governed during 70 years of the Schuman Declaration by solidarity and unity. “These values enable us to live together, to become more powerful and united, contrary to the differences of language, culture, religion and traditions. Solidarity is the pillar on which the functioning of the European Union is based, being applied in particular in the relationship with the Republic of Moldova. The coronavirus pandemic, I think, showed more than ever that only by solidarity we can cope with any challenge and can become stronger,” stated the diplomat.

The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova calls on the population to stay at home and to be part of the events staged on the occasion of Europe Day.
