Euroclub ASEM contributes to familiarizing young people with EU
The first European debate club has been opened in Moldova at the suggestion of the Delegation of the European Union and the Academy of Economic Studies (ASEM), Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The initiative of opening such a Euroclub was put forward by the EU Delegation to Moldova and forms part of the EU’s Bring Europe to Your Home Project. Among the members of the Euroclub are students of the Academy who are interested in the European Union,” said the founder and coordinator of the Euroclub ASEM, senior lecturer Marina Popa.
The Euroclub was set up within the Faculty of International Economic Relations, where the students devote grater attention to the European integration processes and are provided with more information in this respect.
The Euroclub will focus on various themes concerning the European integration. “We discuss a certain topic in a meeting and speak about the positive and negative points for the European integration. We also have different invitees and experts. The students can put any question they want. The members of the Euroclub receive information from the first sources,” said Marina Popa.
According to the lecturer, the representatives of the EU Delegation consider the Moldovan population does not know much about the European Union. “This way, the young people are familiarized with this theme. The students are free to choose what topic they want to discuss and what problems to address,” said the founder of the club.
The Euroclub ASEM has worked informally since September and has been now opened officially. Similar clubs have been launched meanwhile at the Chisinau-based High School “Ion Creanga” and in Cahul and Balti.
