Eurasia-Moldova will promote citizens' participation and support of the EGPRP reforms

The Eurasia – Moldova Foundation (EMF) will promote civil responsibility through increasing trust in the governmental structures, civil organizations and mass-media in three main fields, including increasing participation of the citizens in the reforms included in the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (EGPRSP) and the European Union – Republic of Moldova Action Plan. EMF will undertake these actions within a new consolidation program for the Moldovan civil society, financed by the Swedish International Development Association (Sida/Asdi). According to Sorin Mereacre, director of EMF, the foundation will work in this direction, even if EGPRSP will come to an end, as it is planned. “If EGPRSP will continue, we will work according to the plan offered by Sida, otherwise we will collaborate with those ministries, governmental organizations, responsible for the development of new economic development and poverty reduction strategies, so that citizen participation methods are implemented in future strategies”, the cited source declared. The overall cost of the Sida program is USD 3 million, of which USD 1 million will be offered by the Eurasia-Moldova Foundation. The EMF managed project is co-financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
