The European Parliament’s Delegation to the EU–Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee led by MEP Andi Cristea will be paying a visit to Chisinau on May 17-19. The members of the delegation will discuss the political situation in Moldova, its relations with the EU and the stage of implementing reforms in the justice, law and electoral sectors with their Moldovan counterparts. After the meeting held in Brussels on September 21-22, 2015, this will be the second meeting of the EU–Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the European Parliament.
“This meeting, the first that will take place in Chisinau after the signing of the European Union – Moldova Association Agreement, will represent an important moment for additionally strengthening the interparliamentary ties and for assessing in detail the implementation of the Association Agreement and the reform agenda. I strongly believe that our dialogue, which benefits from a powerful mandate, envisioned even in the Association Agreement, represents a crucial instrument for ensuring the implementation of the reforms needed urgently to meet the people’s expectations,” said the Romanian MEP Andi Cristea.
The delegation will consist of four MEPs, namely Andi Cristea (S&D, Romania), Michal Boni (EPP, Poland), Petras Auštrevičius (ALDE, Lithuania), and Norica Nicolai (ALDE, Romania).
The EU-Moldova relations and the situation in Moldova, the implementation of the Association Agreement, ensuring of the freedom of the press, doing of reforms in the justice, law and electoral sectors and economic and financial administration are the main subjects that will be discussed in the meeting of the EU–Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee. This will take place on May 18 and will be followed by a news conference in Moldova’s Parliament Building at 3pm.
The MEPs will also take part in meetings with Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Galbur,
