Eugeniu Axentiev was suspended from the post of director of the cleanup company Autosalubritate. An order to this effect was signed by mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban, IPN reports.

Under the order, the individual work contract of February 20, 2018 is suspended as of August 8 for the period of the internal inquiry conducted by the working group. In the period, the post will be held in an interim basis by the company’s vice director Dumitru Vulpe.

Earlier, the mayor said Eugeniu Axentiev could be dismissed after he familiarized himself with a number of internal reports on the fire at the Țânțăreni waste dump, produced by the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service and the General Inspectorate for Emergencies. The mayor asked for an internal inquiry to determine the causes of the fire and to assess the actions taken by persons responsible for the management of the waste dump.

Eugeniu Axentiev was unavailable for comment.
