“Eugen Ionesco” Theater (TEI) opened the 2009-2010 season at the new head office with the play “She-Bosses” by Werner Schwab on Friday evening, Info-Prim Neo reports. The play was directed by Veaceslav Sambris. The leading roles were played by three TEI actresses – Maia Grosu, Dana Ciobanu and Irina Boclinca. The actresses said that they started to work on “She-Bosses” in winter and had the dress rehearsal in June this year.
Dana Ciobanu, who played the part of Erna, said that she had a great joy during the performance as she felt the interaction between her and the audience. “I saw lively, intelligent eyes in the hall,” she said. “I hope the play will bring us luck and we will become bosses in the theater, in arts. The play is about human values. The people pretend to be faithful by wearing crosses at the neck. But faith means something else. We forgot about values. The people do not speak about them anymore. The non-values are now more popular. We watch all kind of rubbish on the TV. People, leave the TV set and come to theater,” the actress urged.
“We thank Veaceslav Sambris for his courage to venture into producing such a serious play as we are young graduates and worked for the theater for less than a year,” said actress Irina Boclinca, who performed the role of Grete.
The actresses also said that the play was shocking even for them. “We excluded some parts from the play as they looked like blasphemy. We did it for the public. We do not judge the faith in this play, but the people who pretend to be faithful, but are not,” said Dana Ciobanu.
Director and actor Gheorghe Urschi said that TEI has always produced unusual, non-traditional plays. “They always did something different and this is good. The theater must be varied. The area covered by TEI is new, but it is their area and I wish them good luck,” he said.
“I had the possibility of seeing my colleagues together with whom I performed in many plays. I liked “She-Bosses” because it is a specific, somewhat philosophic play, but it is a reality and I believed everything I saw. I lived a real drama,” said Iurie Popa, actor of “Satiricus – Ion Luca Caragiale” Theater.
Both the actors and the spectators said that the new head office of TEI is rather welcoming. “The play was produced in this building and we feel bosses here,” said Irina Boclinca.
“I’m glad that they found a solution and transformed this hall into a theater hall,” Gheorghe Urschi said.
The play “She-Bosses” will be also staged on September 19 and 20, starting at 18.00.
