Eugen Carpov joins political project announced by Iurie Leanca

MP Eugen Carpov, who was elected in Parliament on the lists of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), defected from the Liberal-Democratic faction and intends to join the political project announced by Iurie Leanca, IPN reports.

“I made public the decision to leave the faction of the PLDM of which I formed part. It is an assumed decision, whose reasons can be intuited given that I didn’t vote for the current Government when a tacit alliance with the PCRM was formed. There were all the possibilities for a stable parliamentary majority to  be created in Moldova. The discussions were long, but the result became evident when negotiations were held in parallel with the Communists. This is not the result wanted by the voters of the pro-European parties,” Eugen Carpov told the journalists.

The lawmaker noted that he was never a party member. “I wasn’t a member of the PLDM, but I campaigned to promote the values that I shared with the members of the PLDM. In the multiple meetings held, we asked if a coalition will be formed with the PCRM. The answer was: categorically no. The result we have today definitely does not match my views and the expectations of the people who voted for the PLDM. Therefore, I decided to further serve as an unaffiliated MP,” stated Eugen Carpov.

He also said that he will join the project announced by his colleague Iurie Leanca and will make effort for this project to be viable.

On February 26, Iurie Leanca announced that he decided to leave the PLDM and to launch a new pro-European political project.
