Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta wants Moldova and Romania to rejoice together for the success obtained by the Moldovans after the Vilnius summit. “The Vilnius summit of this autumn will be a very important moment and I’m absolutely sure that the decisions taken there by the EU will be the best for Moldova. We, those from Romania, are the most convinced advocates and promoters in Europe of Moldova’s European integration process,” Victor Ponta said after a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Iurie Leanca in Bucharest.
According to a communiqué of the Moldovan Government, the Romanian Premier said that he wants the Pro-European Coalition to rule successfully until the end of its mandate and in continuation. He announced that he discussed with Iurie Leanca common projects in the energy sphere, especially the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline and the electric power connection line, and crossborder cooperation and assistance projects.
Iurie Leanca said that it was the first visit at bilateral level that he paid to Romania as Prime Minister and thanked his counterpart for the invitation. “We discussed interconnection projects, first of all concerning energy interconnection, and the possibility of restoring bridges that were destroyed during World War II,” said the official.
Another subject discussed by the two officials was Moldova’s European agenda, especially the initialing and signing of the Association Agreement, including the Free Trade Agreement, with the EU during the mandate of the current European Commission and of the current Parliament and Government of Moldova.
