EU wants Moldova to promote continuous dialogue to settle Transnistrian conflict

Moldova must promote a continuous dialogue with the EU institutions in order to peacefully settle the Transnistrian conflict in the interest of regional security. This conclusion was reiterated within the frameworks of the meeting of Vasile Tarlev with Adrian Jacobovits de Szeged, EU special representative for Moldova. According to a press release of the Government cited by Info-Prim Neo, the talks tackled the possibility of strengthening the coordinated actions of EU and Moldovan authorities in order to settle the Transnistrian conflict. The collocutors ascertained the positive effects of the activity carried out by the EU border assistance mission, together with the use of the new regulations on goods crossing the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. In this context, the prime-minister of Moldova emphasized the importance of maintaining and strengthening the security mechanism along the Transnistrian segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, including by expanding the activity period and its mandate.
